Magical Forest Dream Cottage!

Along the Kootenay Rockies of British Columbia, tucked between gardens, cedar, and lake, lie the contents of a "Magical Forest Dream Cottage." Three log cabins make up this vision, created first on paper, and then brought to life by Joan Huiberts and John Edwards. A deep love for nature drove the couple to purchase a fifty-acre private estate in their thirties. The estate of Wedgwood has been in their care since, and with a gentle touch has been naturally restored and renovated to include their creative spark of cabin making. Three cabins were carefully erected using natural timber found on the grounds, predominately made up of cedar logs.

Robin's Nest, pictured below, offers a spacious feel throughout: boasting two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen and enough space to encircle a family of four. The kitchen may be the most functional room in the cabin - as all the kitchen essentials one would expect to find in an urban centre can also be found within its walls. While the kitchen is most functional, the crowning jewel of Robin's Nest is its lofty nest itself. An upstairs loft-style bedroom houses a large bed and a luxurious soaking tub fixed beneath its windows.

The cozy upstairs getaway makes Robin's Nest the best log cabin getaway for a nature oriented couple.

Deciding on how to choose a log cabin can be difficult, but when one estate encompasses three uniquely laid out cabins of varying sizes, the choice becomes simplified. The trade for more nature is usually giving up certain comforts and the easy accessibility of urban living. With the log cabins of Wedgwood, each cabin is self-contained. Modern comforts included are running water, electricity and even internet availability. This estate neatly combines nature and comfort, while adding a plethora of natural resource based entertainment throughout the year. The hiking trails, hills, lakes, beaches and waterfalls that surround the estate, provide a nature immersion - without taking the full plunge.
